The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Mother and daughter in warm winter coats from monsoon

I LOVE dressing up for the festive season!

Whether it’s going casual with cosy jumpers, jeans and flats or sequin dresses with heels for special occasions. It’s my favourite time of year for style (even when my Mum sends me the annual dressing gown and slippers in the post).

Now that I’m a Mum, I love it even more because I get to choose outfits for two other people!

Comfort is the most important thing to me and I’d hate to put the girls into anything uncomfortable.

I went to the Monsoon store in Marble Arch to style pieces for our collaboration and it really made a difference being able to gauge sizes and see what colours would work when I put all 3 outfits together!

I know this sounds mad, but I usually spend the whole night choosing outfits online for collaborations and it’s a tad difficult sometimes because it’s hard to imagine what the pieces will be like when they arrive.

When I was selecting outfits for myself and the girls, I already had my shoot location in mind, so it was all about choosing the right materials, colours and textures to compliment the back drop of my location.

Anyway- I’m probably boring you with that, so I’ll move on!!

When Monsoon got in touch about working together on a sponsored post for a festive story, I immediately thought of a carousel! They are so full of happiness.

So romantic and beautiful.

So Parisian! My Mum even made Daniel go on one with her the last time she was over. Haha! There is something so enchanting about a carousel no matter how old you are.

Saoirse laughed her head off on the carousel and loved the Christmas stalls and all the decorations at the market in Southbank!

Whenever there is a special occasion and I need to get the girls an outfit, Monsoon Children has always been a go to for me (I got Saoirse’s christening outfit from there two years ago). I love everything that the clothing and accessories have to offer – there is so much choice!

Walking around the children’s section of the store, a pair of brogues and a gorgeous military style coat caught my eye in the boy’s section, styled with a dress I thought this would make a gorgeous outfit for Saoirse.

Always have a look in the boy’s section if you have a girl- there are usually some gorgeous androgynous pieces to be found!

My favourite piece for Harper was this little tutu dress because it’s dressy but it’s also practical (long sleeved – warm) and can be dressed down as much as it can be dressed up.

You may be thinking how it washes – well I’m writing this on the plane to Fuerteventura a week after we’ve taken the photos and I’ve already had it in the washing machine twice.

To me, that’s really important because she can get so much more wear out if it and that makes it good value for money.

My favourite piece for myself was this amazing faux fur coat. I’ve been living in it all week as it’s been so cold and it’s basically like a massive throw, down to my feet but oh so glamourous.

Faux fur coats are SO fabulous and bring any outfit to life.

Timeless! These clothes would be so nice for Christmas or Boxing Day celebrations!
