How my travels have changed since having kids

Cruise with Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas

I’ve written many Instagram posts about my travel days and about how I thought my travelling was finito when I had kids. I would never have believed I would be seeing some of the world like I am today, while pregnant with my third! Don’t get me wrong, it hasn’t come easy. Nothing really worth having does. But I definitely think you can still keep your nomad spirit alive after having kids.

Whether your budget will allow you to go somewhere in Europe for the weekend or further afield, you’ll make it work! It may be for 1 week instead of 1 month, but it’s still possible!

I think it’s really important for your eyes (and soul!) to experience something new when you travel, which is why I always go somewhere different. I know it’s easy to go back to the same holiday when you’ve had such a good time, but I just love experiencing something different every time! I think the most important thing though is doing enough research into the location/accommodation/amenities before you go, especially if you have kids.

Yes we take a lot more “stuff” and we tend to eat in the restaurants earlier (or get room service when the girls are in bed) but personally, my travelling is much more enriched since I’ve had kids. I’ve done enough dancing on bars! Ha!

One of the things I love about social media (especially IG stories and vlogs) is that you get to experience what a holiday is actually like from the eyes of a human being, instead of looking at unrealistic photos the company has put together on the website. This has happened to me in the past (the place was so different to what was shown on the website and it was SO disappointing). I really thrive to show you the beautiful, positive aspects of the experience when I’m away, in a fly on the wall way!

I decided to collaborate with Royal Caribbean this month as it’s launching its incredible new ship, Symphony of the Seas, which is set to redefine family and adventure travel. Now I have never been on a holiday like this before, but it looks really impressive and they have some really good offers on in celebration of the launch too.

Royal Caribbean is creating a preview of Symphony of the Seas next weekend at Victoria House in Central London and I’m heading along to check it out on the Saturday! It’s free and there are still walk in places available if you’d like to come down! Details click here.
