Last weekend Daniel and I stayed at The Athenaeum in Mayfair, London. It was his 32nd birthday and as I mentioned on my Instagram ,we have never done anything special for each others birthdays. Well!! THIS made up for all of that!
What an utterly luxurious experience. When I was looking into the hotel, I had read that Charles Dickens noted its “extravagant interiors”. Anything which has a rich London history swoons me and this hotel had me at the reception.Look how beautiful this furniture is!! (This was me at 7.30am trying to capture the decor at such a quiet time, before actual hotel guests could photo bomb my interior shots!!)
We arrived and the staff were incredibly nice. They walked us directly to our park view room and had fresh fruit delivered up immediately. The location was so central and was perfect for us as we wanted to venture off, but still stay within walking distance of the hotel.
We headed out for drinks and bumped into a blogger friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in ages! This is her Instagram…THE LornaLuxe …
We came back to the hotel for dinner and had drinks at the beautiful cocktail bar, The Galvin which not only had even more beautiful decor, but its service and postcard cocktail menu was so charming!
Every single corner of this hotel was designed so carefully and it was kind of like an accumulation of the homes I have on my Pinterest board! This is my favourite photo from the stay…it just shows how much detail there is and how they knew exactly the clientele they were targeting…me!
How ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS is this photo in the restaurant?!! We got brekkie to the room, which was such a treat. Not in the photo is the chocolate waffles, which were amazing! You know what, i say AMAZING like it’s just another adjective…but this hotel was pretty unbelievable. I like anywhere that lives up to its 5 stars and this definitely did. I’ll definitely be heading back to The Galvin for cocktails soon!
